Leave it to the experts

If you live in one of the three council areas that make up Sydney’s Northern Beaches, and your tree falls into any of the following categories, it’s always a good idea to have a qualified, experienced arborist remove it.

  • The tree has grown to such an extent that its height or girth has created an obstruction and made it a danger to its immediate surroundings or nearby buildings, and pruning won’t solve the problem,
  • The tree is diseased, dead, or structurally un-sound,
  • The tree has grown so large it’s now stifling or otherwise damaging other nearby trees,
  • The tree is not an Australian native and has a bad reputation for taking over sites where it’s growing.
  • The tree has been damaged in a recent storm resulting in branches either falling or threatening to fall and may be dangerous.
  • A new development or land clearing is planned and the tree is in the way.

Getting Council Permission

Manly, Warringah and Pittwater Councils all have policies regarding the pruning or removal of trees. As each council has different policies and Tree Preservation Orders, it’s important to check them and get your specific Council’s approval before taking any action. Acting without Council permission means you could face a fine of up to $1.1 million. Alternatively, you could arrange a free site inspection by one of our qualified staff members to determine if permission is required. Within 48 hours of our free on-site inspection you will have a detailed quote containing clearly marked photos outlining exactly what work will be carried out. To make the process even more stress-free we can submit the required paperwork to the Council for you.

Even if your tree appears on the Preservation Order there are some circumstances that allow you to prune or remove the tree, but you still need Council approval to do so.

It’s about to fall on my house!

If you think your tree is dead or immediately dangerous, give us a call. Under certain conditions a tree can be removed without obtaining Council approval. However, after the tree has come down, the Council requires documented evidence, and a recommendation stating why the tree was considered imminently dangerous. This must come from an Arborist with at least an AQF Level 3 certification, but preferably a Level 5. All of our staff are fully employed and we have AQF Level 2, 3, and 5 Arborists.

How we work

Our quotes are a lot more detailed than other companies. We clearly mark the work to be carried out on photographs taken on-site to prevent any confusion.

All our quoting, invoicing, scheduling and risk assessments are completed using the same information system.

In line with our on-going safety policies, our equipment is regularly checked against manufacturers’ specifications to ensure it’s working perfectly. Combined with our extensive experience this allows us to confidently handle projects of any size.

Every aspect of the job gets our full commitment. To ensure this, our Project Checklist ensures that set-up, risk assessments, property and staff protection procedures, actual project and post project site clean-ups are carried out as professionally as possible.
